Stowaway puppy hunts home after surviving harrowing trip from Venezuela

Chesed-Rescue is taking care of a stowaway, albeit accidental one. A caramel-colored, 3-month old female mutt was found last Thursday in a trailer sized container aboard a Venazuelan cargo ship at Port Everglades. Dock workers found the pup after she survived a six-day trip with no food or water.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, the dock workers opened the container and the dog ran out looking for food and water. The emaciated pup was fed chicken while Broward County Animal Care was called.
And then Chesed Rescue stepped in, bringing her to a private Palm Beach County vet who administered intravenous feeding on Tuesday.
Given the name Lana, she will be placed in Foster Care pending adoption. For more information, read the story at the Sun-Sentinal.
